Welcome to the Burke County Beekeepers Association (BCBA) website. We hope you find it both informative and interesting. The BCBA meets monthly, at 6:30pm, on the second Tuesday at the Cooperative Extension Office, 130 Ammons Drive in Morganton. We have a different speaker every month and the public is invited to attend and, hopefully, join our association.
Master Gardners of Burke County along with the Burke County Beekeepers will assist the local 4-H'ers in a food drive for Burke United Christian Ministries. Please aid this drive by bringing canned goods to the next BCBA meeting on August 8, the goods will be collect at the bee yard prior to or going into the hives.
Canned meat is the most needed along with: Macaroni & cheese, Peanut Butter, Pasta, Chicken Noodle Soup, Pinto Beans, Canned Fruit, Cereal and Jelly.
Think of how many people will be affected by every single can or box. The families who will receive the food. The volunteers who work so hard to provide for these families. The 4-H’ers who will receive a lesson in team-work and community involvement. And those of us who donate. Thanks and a "GOOD JOB!"
The August monthly meeting will take place at 6:00pm at the WPCC garden site where Jeff Ritchie's hives are located. Please remember to bring your own personal hive yard protection equipment (and a canned good). Jeff, a long time professional beekeeper and local queen bee provider, has always given us an excellent "inside the hive" presentation. In the event of weather please visit this website for announcements.
Visit our hive gallery for a review of all the activities for 2016. It was an exciting and involved year. Don't forget to renew your membership at the next meeting.
