Welcome to the Burke County Beekeepers Association (BCBA) website. We hope you find it both informative and interesting. The BCBA meets monthly, at 6:30pm, on the second Tuesday at the Cooperative Extension Office, 130 Ammons Drive in Morganton. We have a different speaker every month and the public is invited to attend and, hopefully, join our association. The BCBA is a chapter of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association.
On August 9 the Burke County Beekeepers will meet on the campus of Western Piedmont Community College at the garden site (not the extension office) where Jeff Ritchie keeps several of his hives. Jeff, as many of you know, is a state certified queen supplier and has many years of experience in beekeeping. Jeff will take us inside his hives, explaining hive health, queen health and answering questions. Individuals attending this event will be responsible for their own personal protective equipment. This meeting will begin at 6:00pm.
DIRECTION TO WPCC GARDEN SITE:
Proceed as you would to go to the extension office via Government
Drive. Turn right onto Ammons Drive, go to the top of the hill and bear right onto East College Drive. Proceed about a quarter of a mile and WPCC building "K" will be on left, take a left after passing this building. Continue past parking lot on left and then turn left onto dirt road. This dirt road will take you to WPCC garden site and Jeff's hives.
